The 2026 12^th edition of GGUM’s “Music for Ministry” Fundraiser was “A God Thing!”

Nothing else explains the collective spirit of joy that moved through souls at New Covenant Church on Saturday, August 22.

The largest “Music for Ministry” crowd of attendees ever gathered to hear an almost entirely new lineup of talented Christian musicians and praise dancers. The crowd was estimated at approximately 230.

The Angels Sang

Among 1st-time performers at GGUM’s 12^th Music for Ministry Christian Concert were:

Carlota Faulks, Cold Springs Mennonite Church, Redeemed, Soul Purpose, Shared Hymnal, and the Tabernacle Baptist Praise Dancers.

Another First

For the first time, “His House Home Cooking and Catering”, a Christian-based local company, prepared and served a plated, juicy smoked chicken meal that folks are still talking about. Owner and head cook Katrina Pope also serves as a Piedmont-Tech student intern at GGUM.

Heavenly Hands

Not a first, Frank Russell Technology Center Culinary students returned to the event for its 3^rd performance, whipping up a decadent Apple Crisp dessert under the tutelage and leadership of GGUM friend Chef Jay Hancock.

The Christian concert with dinner was certainly the main event, but the ever-popular, scene-stealing silent auction was harmonious for the spirited shoppers in the crowd, too. This time, at least 133 merchants or individuals donated a rich array of items, totaling 237 unique auction lots, making GGUM’s 2026 “Music for Ministry” silent auction among the most expansive ever.

So, So Close!

Sponsors were in abundance too, making this year’s proceeds both joyfully and painfully close to crossing the six-figure mark.

GGUM’s Executive Director Rosemary Bell dreamed up and conceived “Music for Ministry” shortly after taking the helm of the faith-based nonprofit. The fundraiser began as a casual, drop-in style Christian concert and barbecue.

Now, clearly “Music for Ministry” has become a talk-of-the-town special event attracting repeat goers and newcomers each year.

The proof of “Music for Ministry’s” critical impact on GGUM’s mission is in the numbers:

So far this year, January to July, GGUM has awarded clients $95,531 in assistance to help avoid rent evictions and utility disconnections.

For Bell, the 12^th “Music for Ministry” event brings together the work and results from all the years past. It really feels like the fitting, metaphorical, musical reference, a true Crescendo!

Bell is grateful, a little shocked, but very hopeful that “Music for Ministry” will continue to be a powerful fundraising event for GGUM years into the future.

Yes, some thoughts and plans for the 2027 “Music for Ministry” are already starting to take shape. Bell and her team are prayerful for many more high notes and encores.
