Transformative, spirit-filled songs, heavenly interpretive dance, a captivating biblical skit, auctions, and barbecue converged at NewSpring Church on Saturday, August 17 for a historic, unforgettable evening.
Greater Greenwood United Ministry's 10th Annual "Music for Ministry" Fundraiser was a resounding success raising the most funds in the event's history.
GGUM Executive Director Rosemary Bell's raised hands spoke volumes as she stood at the back of the church taking it all in.
Performers from 10 churches including choirs, soloists, and praise teams belted out powerful songs of praise. Praise dancers lifted and swayed their arms in Jesus' name. The Greenwood Church of the Nazarene's youth group closed the 3-hour event with a scene-stealing, soul-stirring, pantomime!
Dozens of generous donors sponsored the event, including Orchestra (over $2500), Harmony ($2500), as well as Soprano ($1000), Alto ($750), Tenor ($550), and Bass ($350) level sponsorships.
Over 100 merchants and individuals donated items for the Live and Silent Auctions ranging from mountain homestays and sports passes to restaurant and store gift cards to country club golf outings.
Auctioneer Darryl Dodgen and Darby Bell presented the animated and funny Live Auction on center stage to an adoring crowd. Meanwhile, the Silent Auction, which was cordoned off at the back of the sanctuary was steadily swamped with eager and competitive bidders right up to the 7 PM bidding deadline.
It was NewSpring Church's first time hosting "Music for Ministry". New Journey Church hosted the last 3.
NewSpring's spacious sanctuary was set up for a crowd of 350 but has a 500-seat capacity for future "Music for Ministry" Fundraisers as attendance climbs year over year.
For its third year of catering, "Music for Ministry" Stomp's Barbecue brought their A-game too, serving delectable barbecue pork and chicken, mac & cheese, and fruit cobbler. People are still talking about how tender the chicken and pork were!
Good food was like icing on a cake, sweetly topping off an evening to remember.
Rosemary Bell says, "It was a night of celebrating God's blessings in our community through Greater Greenwood United Ministry. A beautiful time of the community coming together to share food, fellowship, fun, and faith!"
Well done, good and faithful servant. Mathew 25:23.
See you at the 11th Annual "Music for Ministry" in August of 2025!
