CPW Cares, And Now So Does Duke Energy!

Greater Greenwood United Ministry’s Crisis Ministry is pleased to now have both major Utility Companies as allies in serving Greenwood residents facing the crisis of having power disconnected.

Due to any number of emergency circumstances, such as job loss, health issues, divorce, and death, people find themselves unable to pay at all, or they are so far behind that the utility company must disconnect service.

Last year, Greater Greenwood United Ministry’s Crisis Ministry distributed $56,820.00 to halt utility disconnections.

Those funds were donated by CPW Cares and the Ministry’s more than 65 church partners.

Starting this year, Duke Energy Carolinas has pledged to become a major funder as well.

Executive Director Rosemary Bell has had several high-level phone meetings with Top Executives at Duke Energy Carolinas.

She reports that Duke Energy was eager to participate and promised generous support.

Bell says, “We look forward to being able to help even more people in need and perhaps offering larger pledges than we’d previously been capable of doing. No family should be in the dark or in dangerous cold or heat.”

Both CPW and Duke Energy Carolinas offer ways you can help too.  You may make tax-deductible donations to both CPW Cares and Duke Energy’s “Share the Light” funds.
